After batting first, Kohli reached his first century, his fourth of the game and his second consecutive hundred as India overcame New Zealand by 40 runs despite a batting collapse. All of the Indian batting order, with the exception of Kohli, who hit ten fours on his way to 105 from 104 balls, failed when they batted first. The Indian innings collapsed, losing the final six wickets for a total of 26 runs, but Yuvraj's three wickets, Sreesanth's, and Kohli's heroics were enough to salvage the day.
